What does Walk the Line have to do with business?
What would you tell a brand new entrepreneur who is starting a consulting practice…in a small community…saturated with competition…most of whom have been in business for at least 10 years…and some of whom are Fortune 500 companies?
Well that was my prospective client. She wanted to know how to market her company in that environment.
I asked her questions, lots of questions about what she does and why someone should hire her instead of another consultant.
Her answers were average, uninspired and devoid of passion.
Coincidentally, that’s what happened to the broke, desperate, dying-to-make-his-dreams-come-true, Johnny Cash when he auditioned for a record producer. His song was bland and boring.
If she hires me, I’ll tell her exactly what the record producer tells Johnny Cash in this clip.
